Mammoth Middle School Mission

The mission of Mammoth Middle School is to inspire, educate, and empower our community’s future leaders by providing a healthy, safe, and respectful environment that fosters students’ academic, social, and emotional growth.

Our instructional focus is to read actively, think critically, and strive to grow. Schoolwide best practices include student-generated questioning through the Question Formulation Technique, as well as student goal setting.

Our values and expectations for students and staff are reflected in Mountain Lion P.R.I.D.E.: to be positive, respectful, demonstrate integrity, remain determined, and show excellence in our words and actions.

Student Expectations

Break and Lunch Expectations

Students are expected to:

Eat food only on the cafeteria side.
Keep food away from the jungle gym.
Use equipment properly.
Show kindness and respect.
Clear hallways quickly after the break and lunch bell.
Stop and clean up if something drops or spills.
Understand that lunchtime activities are a privilege and may be revoked if rules are not followed.

Lunch Expectations

Students are expected to:

Eat outside as much as possible.
Eat foods containing peanut ingredients outside.
Place trash in the designated trash cans.
Be respectful of others, their property, and their eating areas.
Pick up and return play equipment at the end of lunch.

Backpack Expectations

Please help keep the main hallway floor clear. When possible, backpacks and belongings should be hung on the hooks outside of the MPR or stored in lockers.

Cell Phones and Electronic Devices

All cell phones must be powered off and placed in backpacks before entering school.

Headphones must be removed from ears and placed in backpacks.

Library Expectations

Students are expected to leave the library as they found it.

Library expectations include:

Clean up after yourself and others.
Push in your chair.
Keep feet off furniture.
Use kind words.
Wash your hands before using the computers.
Return games to the shelf after use.
Include others — never let someone sit alone.

College and Career Ready Dress Code

Mammoth Middle School has a simple dress code for all students:

Shirts must be worn at all times.
Clothing may not advocate the use of alcohol, drugs, or anything illegal.
Shorts, skirts, and dresses must be an appropriate length.
Midriffs may not be showing.
Underwear may not be showing.
Hats and beanies may not be worn inside buildings.

A helpful question for students to ask themselves is:

Could I get a job in town or go to a college interview dressed this way?

If the answer is no, the clothing is not considered college and career ready for school.

Behavior That May Result in Consequences

The following behaviors may result in school consequences:

Horseplay
Running to and from class or lunch
Profanity or inappropriate language
Rumors or gossip
Threats
Disrespect toward school property
Unsafe behavior in the lunch line, during lunch, or in the trash line
Disrespect or defiance toward staff, including teachers, substitutes, and proctors
Frequent visits to the office
Possession of vaping products or e-cigarettes
